ISLAMABAD - The teaching staff of 20 model colleges has announced strike from December 3 to protest against the non-resolution of their issues.

By multiplying the problems and no response in resolving their problems compelled the teaching community of Islamabad Model Colleges to wage a strike, said Rasheed Khan, President Central Academic Staff Association on Thursday.

"The authorities have no response to address the issues in education so the community has knocked every door in a civilised way to listen to them in the problems," he said.

They have been facing non-upgradation, non-payment of rental allowance, merger of two systems compromising the seniority of teachers, promotions and change of nomenclature from SST to SLT in junior section, he added. They also have been demanding removal of director model colleges at Federal Director of Education and allocation of budget for daily-wage staff.

"We are not against the unification of the system but the seniority of the teachers should not be sacrificed. Instead of resolving out issues the authorities have resorted to punitive action and representatives of IMCB I-8/3 the Academic Staff Association including President Yasser Chattha, Vice President Kashif Habib, General Secretary Imran Azhar have been transferred to another college as an intimidating gesture," said another teacher.
