Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday took the notice of up to 15 percent increase in prices of medicines, and ordered authorities to revoke the increase.
On Thursday, the federal ministry of health issued a notification according to which prices of around 30,000 medicines of varied nature were raised by 2 to 15 percent with immediate effect. However, the prices of life-saving drugs were not increased.
Pharmaceutical firms have been demanding the hike in the prices of various categories of medicines, sources said.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ordered the health ministry to withdraw new rates, stating that the hike “is unacceptable.”
