KARACHI - MQM Coordination Committee member Kanwar Naveed Jameel said the PPP had intended to crush the MQM’s mandate by forming new districts. The exercise of delimitation has drawn the lines between the urban and rural Sindh.

Addressing a press conference along with MQM’s Haider Rizvi and Wasay Jalil at Khursheed Begum Secretariat here on Thursday, he termed Sindh Local Government Act 2013 anti-people. He said the PPP’s provincial government had approved the SLGA.

He said the municipal system was formulated to facilitate the masses but it was unfortunate that the PPP was trying to divide the urban and rural Sindh.

He said the PPP wanted to crush the MQM mandate as two major parts of the Karachi District West was added to the District South. Similarly, main part of the District South was added to newly-formed District Korangi.

Jameel further said the distribution of resources and administrational powers must be provided to all the union councils on equivalent basis but this format had been ignored and a visible line had been drawn showing the urban-rural Sindh.

He warned that adopting the dual formula during the delimitation process would not be tolerated.

He said delimitation in Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur and other areas were carried out as per the wishes of the Sindh government.
