CALIFORNIA: Evan Rachel Wood has hit out at Hollywood double standards after a scene was cut from her new film ‘Charlie Country’. The 26-year-old actress lashed out at the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) - which is responsible for giving new releases age-appropriate audience ratings in the US - after learning that a scene between her and co-star Shia LaBeouf had been cut from the final version of the film after being deemed inappropriate for audiences.

She ranted on Twitter: ‘’After seeing the new cut of CharlieCountryman I would like 2 share my disappointment with the MPAA, who thought it was necessary to censor a woman once again. The scene where the two main characters make ‘love’ was altered because someone felt that seeing a man give a woman romance made people ‘uncomfortable’ but the scenes in which people are murdered by having their heads blown off remained intact and unaltered. ‘’

The ‘True Blood’ star - who recently welcomed a son with her husband Jamie Bell - went on to accuse the MPAA, insisting the scene wouldn’t have been cut had it been a man receiving pleasure. She continued: ‘’This is a symptom of a society that wants to shame women and put them down for enjoying, especially when (gasp) the man isn’t getting off as well. Its hard for me to believe that had the roles been reversed it still would have been cut. ‘Its time for people to grow up. Accept that some men like pleasuring woman. We are allowed and entitled to enjoy ourselves. It’s time we put our foot down.–EXPO
