PARIS - France's world triple jump champion Teddy Tamgho has undergone surgery after fracturing his shin during training, the French Athletics Federation (FFA) announced on Thursday. He was operated on in the Pitié Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris a day after hearing a crack in his left leg landing a jump in training. "The surgery, which involved nailing with bone graft reinforcement, was carried out in the night and went well," the FFA said. "The important thing is that he is upbeat. His message is: 'The goal remains the Olympics in Rio, it does not matter, I'll get over it, I've already gone through tougher'," explained national technical director Yalouz Ghani. The winter season is now over for Tamgho who had planned to take part in the world indoor championships in Sopot next March. –AFP
