Rawalpindi - The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has foiled a heroin smuggling bid and nabbed a foreigner at Benazir Bhutto Islamabad International Airport (BBIIA) on account of having heroin-filled capsules in his stomach.
Similarly, Anti-Narcotics Force launched several operations in various cities of the country and recovered huge quantity of heroin, besides nabbing three smugglers, informed ANF spokesman here on Friday.
According to him, ANF staff was conducting routine checking of passengers at BBIIA when suspicious activities of a foreigner passenger caught its attention. The passenger was taken into custody who during investigation confessed of digesting heroin-filled capsules, he said.
He said that the accused namely Anigbo Vincent, a Nigerian national, was brought to Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) where doctors recovered heroin-filled capsules from his stomach. The smuggler was to board for Lagos by Qatar Airline flight number QR-615, the spokesman added.
He further informed that ANF launched operations at various cities of the country, which resulted in recovery of 60-kg heroin. Most of the recovered drugs were destined broad. The value of the recovered drugs amounts to Rs 399 million approximately in international market.
