ISLAMABAD - Defending champions Wapda and Army jointly won the 23rd National Judo Championship 2014 trophy concluded here at Hamidi Hall, Pakistan Sports Complex on Friday. IPC minister Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada was chief guest and distributed trophies and prizes among the winners. Japanese Ambassador Heroshi Anoumata graced the occasion as guest of honor along with PJF president Col (r) Shujaat Ali Rana, secretary Masood Ahmed, IJA president Zareef Ahmed other dignitaries. Wapda and Army finished as joint winners with 95 points each. Both won five gold, one silver and two bronze medals each, while HEC secured second with total of 51 points. Total of 14 teams including four provinces, Islamabad, AJK, Gilgit-Baltistan, Fata, Wapda, Army, HEC, Railways, Police and Navy took part in the event.
