Shah doubts PM after Qatari royal’s letter

| Opp leader vows not to support 24th amend | Asserts democracy incomplete without son of BB | Kaira says PML-N failed to come out of 90s mindset

FAISALABAD-Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Khursheed Shah yesterday said it is shameful that the Prime Minister is using Qatari prince’s letter to shield himself from probe in Panama case.
“Now I have 100 percent doubt on the premier after Qatari royal’s letter surfaced,” he declared.
Mr Khursheed Shah was talking to journalists here after offering condolence former PPP city president Rana Mushtaq over the demise of his mother Monday.
He said the entry of Qatari Prince in the Panama Leaks issue has raised multiple suspicions as Premier Nawaz Sharif has never mentioned anything about the Qatar Prince in the past.
Mr Shah said that the ball is now in Nawaz Sharif’s court and time would tell that whether the Premier want to be save from the incident that happened in 1990 or not.
“The ball is now in the court of PM Nawaz as whether he wants to help us pass the anti-corruption bill or not.”
He claimed the PPP was an anti-establishment party and even today it is considered an anti-establishment party, adding that why should the PPP support the 24th amendment. “Had the PPP stood with the PTI over Panama Leaks, the entire political and democratic system would have collapsed,” he pointed out.
“The PPP will never support 24th amendment.”
The PPP stalwart termed Gen Raheel Shareef the best army chief, saying that meritorious services of the outgoing COAS for the country are exemplary.
Responding a question, Mr Shah said that change of command in Pak Army is a routine and constitutional procedure. “Some people are blowing the issue out of proportions without any reason.” Khursheed Shah pointed out.
The Opposition leader asserted that democracy will be incomplete if it does not include the son of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
Meanwhile, PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira said that the PPP has shunned long politics of 90s. “The PML-N, however, failed to get out of this mindset,” he claimed. Mr Kaira alleged that PM Nawaz Sharif asks his ‘favourites’ to issue statements in his favour, adding that why does he (PM) not clarify himself. He said that in documents submitted to the Supreme Court, a letter says that the Qatar Prince Jasim gave money to the premier’s family for the purchase of flats in London. “Counsel for the PM’s son counsel Akram Sheikh submitted the letter addressed to the apex court, that was shocking as the PM never earlier discussed such documents,” Mr Kaira regretted.
Monitoring adds: PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira lambasted Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and said that he (CM) is using the same language as he once used against Benazir Bhutto.
“People know who had links with Indian dancers and who are fond of marriages. One should first see himself and then talk about others,” said Kaira.
