Bid to smuggle 3,540 litres Iranian oil foiled

QUETTA - The Pakistan Coast Guards, foiling a smuggling attempt, seized over 3,000 litres foreign oil and juice packets in Hub, on Tuesday.

According to Pakistan Coast Guards authorities, during checking at a Quetta-Karachi and Gwadar highway check post near Wandar, they recovered 177 cans of Iranian engine oil and 150 packets of juice which had been concealed in a passenger coach.

The authorities said 3,540 litres oil and juice packets were worth Rs 2 million. It was learnt the passenger coach easily crossed customs check post, but was caught at the cost guards check post.

GAZAIN MARRI’S JUDICIAL REMAND EXTENDED: An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday extended until December 12 judicial remand of Nawabzada Gazain Marri, involved in a case of having ties with proscribed organisations and providing assistance to them.

Marri was brought to the anti-terrorism court amid a tight security for hearing of the case. Counsel for Gazain Marri Advocate Arbab Tahir and Special Public Prosecutor Zahid Ali Khan along others were present in the court.

Anti-Terrorism Court Quetta-I Judge Dawood Khan Nasar extended judicial remand of Gazain Marri until December 12 and adjourned the hearing of the case.

Marri was rounded up by the security forces at the Quetta airport upon his arrival from Dubai after his 18 years’ self-exile. He was involved in the Justice Nawaz Marri murder case. The district and sessions judge granted him bail against surety of Rs 1 million in the murder case.
