LAHORE - Punjab Police Inspector General Arif Nawaz Khan on Tuesday took strong notice of the death of a young man who was reportedly tortured to death by Faisalabad police.

According to a police spokesman, the IGP also directed the Faisalabad Regional Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana to probe into the killing and send back a detained report of the incident within 24 hours.  The police chief also expressed sorrow and grief over the incident.

 He said that police torture in the name of investigations is “unacceptable” at any cost.  He ordered the Faisalabad RPO to initiate disciplinary action against the police personnel responsible for this act.  The police officials found involved in this incident should be brought to justice, the IGP said.
