Rawalpindi - The Punjab government has announced a financial assistance of Rs800,000 each for the heirs of the persons who had died during clashes with police and other law enforcement agencies during the operation against Tehreek-e-Labaik Ya Rasool Allah protesters at Faizabad Interchange, sources said on Tuesday.

According to the sources, the injured will be paid Rs400,000 each by the provincial government.

A police cop who was killed at Faizabad will also be given the financial assistance, the sources said. As many as six civilians were killed during clashes with the police and other law enforcement agencies on Saturday last.

The sources said that the provincial government will also compensate former federal minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan whose house was attacked by the enraged protestors.

Moreover, the provincial government has constituted a special committee with a task to evaluate the infrastructure damages of metro bus terminals, plazas, shops, fences along with Murree Road and burnt vehicles of police, the sources added. Assistant Commissioner Saddar Division Tasnim Ali Khan would head the committee that is comprised of Chief Municipal Officer Rawal Town Municipal Administration Khalid Goraya, officers of building department and other officials of the district government. The committee members visited Faizabad and examined the damages caused by clashes between the law enforcement agencies and the protesters of the religious group. The committee would submit its report to the Chief Minister’s Cell, the sources said.

AC Saddar Khan confirmed the development saying he has tasked the officers of the land revenue department to collect information about slain persons and to contact their heirs to give them cheques.

“The government will also compensate the police cop’s heirs,” he said. He said that the committee would also evaluate the losses and damages done to the residence Chaudhry Nisar, the plazas and other infrastructure.

“The Punjab government will compensate Chaudhry Nisar and other victims,” the AC said. He said that he has contacted District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Dr Abdul Rehman and Secretary Regional Transport Authority Khalid Yamin Satti for seeking their help to get detail about the seriously injured persons and to evaluate the cost of the vehicles of the police torched by protesters at Faizabad. “The government will pay Rs0.8 million to heirs of the killed and Rs0.4 to the critically injured,” he said.

On the other hand, activists of TLYR led by their chief Allama Khadim Hussain Rizvi passed through Murree Road heading Lahore after packing up from Faizabad Interchange. Riding buses, mini wagons, and cars, the activists travelled on Murree Road late night on Tuesday. No untoward incident was reported. According to official reports, some 1500 activists of TLYR cruised to Lahore via Murree Road in a convoy comprised of 8 buses, 9 trucks, 20 cars and 150 motorcycles.
