HYDERABAD - The Institute of Art and Design of the University of Sindh in collaboration with Sindh Auqaf Department arranged “Sufi Mela” at Allama II Kazi Campus Jamshoro on Tuesday.
The Secretary Board of Revenue Sindh Munawar Ali Mahesar who is also holding the post of the Chief Administrator Sindh Auqaf Department was the chief guest while the Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Prof Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat presided over the occasion.
Prof Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat while addressing the participants of Sufi Mela said Pakistan generally and Particularly Sindh is the land of saints who had given message of peace and love with motherland.
He said Sufism rejects all kind of extremism and terrorism adding that we all Pakistanis are peace lover and we can face the enemies of peace and harmony.
Dr Burfat congratulated the teams of Auqaf Department and Institute of Arts and Design, University of Sindh for organizing successful event and claimed that the University of Sindh is the most peaceful higher learning institution where the students, teachers, officers and all other stake holders love to the Alma matter and committed and responsible to their duties and institutions. We all are trying to improve standard and dignity of our Alma matter, he added.
Munawar Ali Mahesar appreciated the efforts made by the Vice Chancellor and his team for encouraging such type of event where the folk artists presented their performance.
He said that objective of the event is to promote the message of Sufism and peace to new generation.
He said that with participation of the large number of people including male female and children, it proved that they are lover of peace and Sufism.
On this occasion, the folk artists presented their performance based on poetry of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, Sachal Sarmsat, Qadir Bux Bedil, Shah Inayat Shaheed and other Sufi poets.
Earlier, the Director, Institute of Art and Design Naimatullah Khilji highlighted the objectives of the celebration of Sufi Mela.
