‘ZAB preferred hanging over surrendering before dictator’

KANDHKOT - Leaders and workers of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) celebrated the party’s golden jubilee with great enthusiasm and passion here on Tuesday.

In this connection, a grand ceremony was held under the auspices of PPP district Kashmore, which was attended by Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, PPP Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Provincial Minister for Planning and Development Hazzar Khan Bijarani, Minister for Transport Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, senior politician Haji Muzafar Ali Shujrah, Minister for Excise and Taxation Mukesh Chawala, MNA Ehsanur Rahman Mazari, MNA Shabbir Ali Bijarani, Aijaz Khan Jakhrani, PPP District President Gul Mohammed Jhakrani, Sohrab Sarki and others.

Speaking on the occasion, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khurshed Ahmed Shah said, “Today we have gathered here to celebrate the golden jubilee of foundation of PPP.” He further said that former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto (ZAB) had preferred hanging over surrendering before a dictator.

He recalled that in 1945 when Bhutto was just 19 years old, he had written a letter to founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah, in which he had volunteered himself for any kind of service for the country, which actually came into being after two years. He said he was determined to an extent that he had even promised to the Quaid to shed every drop of his blood for the country.

“Our belief is that Bhutto will remain alive in every heart; either in the shape of his daughter Benazir Bhutto or his grandson Bilawal Bhutto,” he added. PPP Provincial President and Senior Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said that Bhutto was not the name of an individual, but was the name of an ideology.

He said Bhutto had always had loved the poor, labourers. “He had no interest in becoming the PM of the country, but his dream was to see the poor people in the corridors of power. Khuhroo further said, “We have always raised slogans in favour of federation and given sacrifices to strengthen democracy.”

Finally the participants cut a cake to mark the occasion amid slogans of ‘Jeye Bhutto’.

Tight security was provided to participants of the ceremony.
