At least, 17,000 applicants have applied for the Naya Housing Scheme in Sukkur, NADRA Director General (Sukkur) Naveed Jan Sahibzada said on Thursday.
Long queues of aspiring applicants were witnessed outside the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) centers to submit application forms for Naya Housing Scheme, About 17,000 forms for 'Naya Pakistan Housing Programme' have been submitted in Sukkur in NADRA office with over welcoming response from the salaried class and low income general public to acquire ownership of house on easy installments, he said.
Director General (Sukkur) said that Naya housing programme would bring more prosperity to the country and said that the target of this plan is the common man, who cannot even think about owning a house. The NADRA has issued over 5 million 'Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme (NPHS) forms so far as people are taking keen interest in the housing project.
According to the DG, in the first phase of the project, Sukkur, Quetta, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, Swat, Islamabad and Faisalabad districts will be facilitated.
The forms can be submitted from October 22 to December 21 along with Rs 250 registration fee at the selected district offices.
He said that programme would not only provide affordable shelter, but also basic facilities to the poor.
The rush had now subsided with the initiative of mobile van registration, which would accelerate the form submission process because of being in easy public access, he added.
The DG said the masses would be facilitated through one-window services, adding the government has started much awaited mega housing project within its 100-day plan.
He expressed confidence that the housing schemes initiated by government would not only be completed timely, but quality would also be maintained with all basic civic facilities of international standard.
