RAWALPJINDI - The Regional Police Officer (RPO), Muhammad Aslam Tareen on Wednesday dismissed two Assistant Sub Inspectors (ASIs), reverted two Inspectors and one SI on various charges of misconduct and corruption. The RPO also awarded other departmental punishments to one Inspector, four SIs and one Head Constable (HC) of Rawalpindi Region on the charges of gross misconduct. According to details, Muhammad Aslam Tareen perused the service record of ASI Khurram Shahzad and ASI Zahoor Ahmad of Rawalpindi district and it transpired that they remained involved in criminal cases, enjoyed bad reputation and also mixed up with anti-social elements. A committee comprising senior police officers conducted an inquiry and found the allegations correct and recommended strict departmental action against them. In the light of inquiry report, the RPO dismissed ASI Khurram Shahzad and ASI Zahoor Ahmad of Rawalpindi district. In the second case, one Yasmin complained that she paid Rs 30,000 to local police of Saddar Police Station, Attock, for the release of her son who was involved in criminal cases but local police did not release him. On her complaint SSP and SP (Investigation) Attock carried out an inquiry. Both the inquiry officers concluded that Inspector Ghulam Shabbir of Attock district received Rs 30,000 for the release of son of a woman but later on returned the amount on complaint. The inquiry officers recommended departmental action against Inspector Ghulam Shabbir. In the light of inquiry reports, Inspector Ghulam Shabbir was reverted from the rank of Inspector to the rank of Sub Inspector. In the third case, the Regional Police Officer directed Inspector Rashid Ahmad who was in charge of Police Lines, Rawalpindi, to dispatch Salami Guard to Regional Office but he failed to comply with the orders of seniors. Due to non-compliance of orders, the RPO reverted Inspector Rashid Ahmed from the rank Inspector to the rank of Sub Inspector. In the fourth case, another woman Nasreen Akhtar appeared before the RPO and told that her brother was murdered and Investigating Officer (IO) Sub Inspector Muzafar Hussain of Chakwal district failed to recover the weapon of offence from the accused and destroyed the murder case. On the said complaint, SDPO (Saddar) Chakwal carried out an inquiry and found the allegations correct. In the light of inquiry report, Muhammad Aslam Tareen reverted Sub Inspector Muzafar Hussain from the rank of SI to ASI.
