KABUL (AFP) - A foreign soldier was killed Thursday by a Taliban-style bomb in Afghanistans volatile south, NATO said. The soldier, whose nationality was not given, died following an improvised explosive device attack, NATOs ISAF said in a statement. The death brings to 605 the number of foreign troops to die in the Afghan war so far this year. The total last year was 521. The international deployment from the US and NATO is more than 150,000, with the counter-insurgency effort concentrated in Kandahar, the southern province the Taliban consider their heartland.
