LAHORE - Ministry of Human Rights has established Human Rights Cells at provincial and district level in pursuance of the recommendations of National Assembly Standing Committee for Human Rights. According to press release issued here on Thursday, the cells have been established with the special efforts of Federal Minister for Human Rights Mumtaz Alam Gillani and Regional Directorate of HRs, Punjab. Additional IGP Research & Development is appointed as the chairman of the Human Rights Cell in Punjab while Regional Director HR Punjab Arshad Mahmood Malik and Iftikhar Mubarak, representative of the Civil Society, are the members. On the directives issued by PM Yousuf Raza Gilani, all CCPOs, DPOs and RPOs are strictly directed to complete the investigation of the cases related to human rights within 14 days and report to both Regional Directorate of Human Rights and the newly established cell of human rights. The HR cells at district level will be presided over by the DPO of the respective districts. The Regional Director of Human Rights (Punjab) has distributed the districts of Punjab among its officers including Muhammad Zia Aftab, Abdur Rasheed and Sana Tahir.
