LAHORE - Special initiatives would be taken to enhance efficacy of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) in development of the SME sector in Pakistan. It was stated by Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani, Federal Minister of Industries and Production while addressing a meeting at SMEDA head office. Mr Anwar Ahmad Khan, Chief Executive Officer of SMEDA gave a presentation to the Minister about the role currently being performed by SMEDA in promotion of small and medium level businesses. The Minister observed that an easy access to finance was the utmost need of SMEs that required an effective mechanism supported with a conducive policy environment at government level. However, he advised SMEDA to enhance coordination with State Bank of Pakistan to encourage financing to the SME sector. He assured to take up the matter of SME financing with proper quarters in the government.
