OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE The menace of dengue virus continued to haunt the Lahorites since four more people including two females lost their lives on Friday, taking death toll till today to 317. Besides claiming four lives in a day, the ruthless dengue virus forced hundreds of Lahorites to approach public sector hospitals and private clinics in the City for preliminary tests, confirming 220 new cases and as such taking the overall tally to 31036. Fazilat Bibi (55), a resident of Begum Kot, and Muhammad Ramzan (80) of Sheikhupura breathed their last at Mayo Hospital while Uzma (15) og Nankana Sahib and Muhammad Nisar (72) of sultan Pura died at Services Hospital. Out of the 220 new dengue cases, 37 were tested positive at Mayo Hospital, 32 each at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and Institute of Public Health, 31 at Services Hospital, 13 each at Jinnah Hospital and Sheikh Zayed Hospital, 12 at Institute of Child Health and 05 at Lahore General Hospital while 73 cases were reported from other public sector hospitals and private healthcare centres in the City. According to the Punjab Health Department, four dengue patients died in the province including two from Lahore. As such number of deaths in Punjab has reached 290 including 253 from Lahore. As many as 108 confirmed dengue cases have been reported from across the province including 92 from Lahore. As such total number of confirmed cases in Punjab has reached 19614 including 16584 from Lahore. So far 19319 dengue patients have been cured and discharged from different hospitals in Punjab out of them, 16489 are from Lahore. At present, 927 dengue patients are under treatment in different hospitals of the Punjab out of them 741 are in Lahore. As many 242 dengue patients have been cured and discharged from various hospitals of Lahore during the last 24 hours. Out of these, 69 patients have been discharged from Mayo Hospital, 35 from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, 34 each from LGH and Jinnah Hospital, 27 from Services Hospital, 16 from Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital, 14 from Mian Munshi Hospital, 08 from Said Mitha Hosptial, 03 from Children Hospital and 02 from Nawaz Sharif Hospital Yakki Gate.
