NOWSHERA A suicide bomber killed a brave Station House Officer (SHO), who was a recipient of presidential Pride of Performance Award, in Bara Banda area of Risalpur on Friday. Another policeman, who was driving the targeted vehicle, was also killed while six passers-by were injured in the attack. Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack. SHO Ajmir Shah, who was renowned for his valour, was on a routine patrol at around 12pm when a suicide bomber hit his official vehicle at Bara Banda Chowk, killing the SHO along with his driver Taqrimul Haq on the spot. His bodyguard Shakeel Khan and another man sustained severe wounds while four shopkeepers were also hurt. The attacker blew himself up near the vehicle as it slowed down at a speed breaker. Soon after the blast all the injured were taken to District Headquarters Hospital Nowshera, where hospital sources said two of the injured were in critical condition. Hailing from Shabqadr village of district Nowshera, Ajmir Shah was on militants hit list after conducting several successful operations in which several prominent militants commanders were either killed or arrested. The police official had also foiled many terror plots. The SHO, the sources said, had been receiving threats from the militants and had survived several attempts on his life. They said that killing of the SHO might have taken place to avenge the capture of Taliban commander Jannut Gul in which Shah played a key role. For his gallantry, Shah had also received Pride of Performance Award from the President. Soon after the incident police rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area, near Mardan-Nowshera Road and the bomb disposal squad collected the body parts of the suspected bomber and other pieces of evidence. The vehicle was completely damaged in the attack. Later, the dead bodies were brought to Peshawar Police Lines where their funeral prayer was attended by senior police officials among others. The bodies were later dispatched to the native villages of the deceased for burial.
