QUETTA - A 3-day Aman Mela and Quetta-Ziarat Peace Cycle Rally concluded with the stress laid on making deliberate and collaborative efforts to restore peace in the province.
The Taraqi Foundation in collaboration with different other welfare organisations organised the festival and rally. While different governmental and non-governmental organisations set up their stalls in the festival displaying their products, and over 150 cyclists participated in the peace cycle rally titled ‘Cycling for Peace.’ Competitions of various sports including cricket, squash, football, badminton were also held as part of the peace festival, in which a large number of players took part.
Provincial Minister Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal was the chief guest of the event. Advisor to the chief minister on Forests and Wildlife, Ubaidullah Babat, Taraqi Foundation Chief Executive Amjad Rasheed, besides the tribal elders and the politicians were present on the occasion.
Ziaratwal appreciated the organisers for holding the peace festival and rally and said that it is welcoming to organise such healthy activities for peace under the prevailing law and order situation of the province. He said that organising such activities in Ziarat would surely send a message to those who attempted to dent the beautiful face of the Juniper Valley and harmed the social values. He also said that such activities would not only help promote peace but would also help discourage the use of narcotics and eliminate social evils in the province.
Referring the law and order situation, Ziaratwal said that the government was endeavouring to restore peace in the province. He said that an all Parties Conference (APC) has also been planned for December this year in the province. A committee has been formed to prepare agenda of the conference and make other necessary arrangements in this regard. The peace will be the main agenda of the conference, he mentioned adding that all the political, nationalists and religious parties would be approached to attend the conference.
