LAHORE: An Anti-Corruption Court on Monday cancelled the bail of former Excise and Taxation director Raja Hafeez Akhtar facing Rs285,000 corruption charges.  Judge Iftikhar Ahmad Khan was hearing the case. He issued arrest warrants for the accused.

The counsel appeared before the judge on behalf of the accused and submitted that he could not appear as one of his close relatives had died in Rawalpindi.

Petitioners Kashif Aslam, Rana Zohaib and Muhammad Aqeel had filed a suit in an anti-corruption court and alleged that Raja Hafeez received Rs285,000 from them against their jobs with the Excise and Taxation Department.  However, on their complaints, the Anti-Corruption Established registered a case against Raja Hafeez under section 161 of the PCC and section 5(2) of Prevention of Act, 1947 and held a department inquiry against him. After hearing the arguments, the judge cancelled the bail of Raja Hafeez.–Fida Hussnain.
