LAHORE: A father of three was shot dead at his doorstep in Hanjarwal, police said on Monday evening.
Safdar Hussain was coming back home after buying a soft-drink from a nearby shop when two unidentified gunmen intercepted him outside the main gate of his house located in the Gulshan Colony near Thokar Niaz Baig.
After a brief altercation, the gunmen opened fire at him and fled from the scene. Hussain, said to be dealer in fish market, sustained multiple bullet wounds and was rushed to a hospital, where doctors pronounced him as brought dead. The body was removed to the morgue for autopsy. Police have registered the case against unidentified killers and are investigating with no arrest made yet.
Found dead: Three persons including an ex-official of a sensitive agency were found dead under mysterious circumstances from different parts of provincial metropolis.
Azhar Ali, identified as a resident of Faisalabad, was recovered dead from the room of a hotel located in the Nolakha police limits. Police said that the man had been staying in the hotel for the last couple of weeks. The hotel staff contacted the police after they noticed foul smell emitting from one of the hotel rooms. The police rushed to the spot and recovered the body by breaking open the door. The body was removed the morgue for autopsy. The police are investigating.
In another incident, a 45-year-old man was found dead from the room of Pilot Hotel in the Data Darbar police limits. The police removed the body to the morgue for autopsy and are investigating.
Meanwhile, an unidentified man was found dead at a footpath near the Civil Secretariat building in the Islampura police limits. Police claimed that the deceased person was a drug addict.
Suicide: A businessman committed suicide by swallowing poisonous pills in the Factory Area police limits on Monday.
The family told the police that Maqsood Ahmed, a resident of Harris Street, got dejected after suffering a huge loss in the business which he had started soon after he returned from abroad in the recent past.
On the day of incident, the father of four locked himself in the bedroom and took poisonous pills. As the family members entered the room after breaking open the door, the man was lying dead. Further investigation was underway. –Staff Reporter
