The Islamia University of Bahawalpur has been included in the SUPARCO’s National Students Satellite Project under a Memorandum of Understanding signed between SUPARCO and the IUB on Friday.

The IUB has become third university of the country after the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore and NED University, Karachi which have been included in the project to boost research in science and space technology.

SUPARCO Deputy Director General Shakeel Zahid and IUB Vice-Chancellor Dr Muhammad Mukhtar signed the MoU at the Abbasia Campus on the behalf of their respective institutions. Under the deal, both the organisations will share and improve research and financial support schemes. The faculty members of both the institution will visit each other’s institutions for 6 months to get knowledge and conduct joint seminars and-short term academic programmes.

The vice-chancellor hoped that the MoU would help a lot improve research activities of IUB students and faculty members. It is heading towards academic and research activities day by day and has gained sufficient progress in this field which will improve its status, he said.

He hoped that the MoU would further enhance the quality and standard of the ongoing research activities and “we would be in position to gain latest designed science facilities and knowledge”.

SUPARCO Lahore General Manager Muhammad Imran briefed the participants about SUPARCO activities, aims, projects and progress. SUPARCO Deputy Director General Shakil Zahid remarked that it would be quite helpful for both the organisations in different fields.
