Leaders of various political parties have stepped up their activities as part of electioneering for the Local Government elections and are lambasting their opponents to woo the public.

Talking to the media, the PML-N Sadiqabad city president said that his party would fully participate in the Local Government elections and get landslide victories across the country. Chaudhry Arshad Taj told the journalists that the public had given a heavy mandate to the PML-N in the May 11 general elections thus the party’s governments were working to steer the country of crises and her on the path to prosperity. The PML-N would field strong candidates in all the constituencies and union councils in Sadiqabad while candidates would be nominated after consultation with the party incumbents and its members of parliament.

He said that his party was working on emergency bases to solve the public grievances under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.  He claimed that the prime minister’s visit to the US was successful, and that the government had made bold decision to better the image of Pakistan at the international level.

He said that the premier’s stance for immediate end to drone attacks was daring before US President  Barak Obama.

On the other side, PPP Punjab leader Tariq Mehmood Khan said that his party had started consultation over the issue of nomination of strong candidates for the upcoming LG polls. He said that a committee had been formed to make a decision regarding nomination of candidates in all the constituencies of Rahim Yar Khan district after making contacts with party leaders and its likeminded groups. The committee consists of political and business figures including Salman Mehmood, Khalil Ahmad, Farhad Ali, Mehmoodul Hassan, Arshad Javed and Habibur Rehman. On the occasion, Tariq Mehmood said that die-hard activists who had made sacrifices for  the party would be preferred to other persons while making decision on the nomination of candidates.
