Eight persons including a girl and a newborn baby were killed in different incidents of violence, honour killing and road mishaps over he past 24 hours.

According to details, in Jhang a man was axed to death over old enmity. As per reports, Muhammad Khan, a resident of Muday Syedan situated in the remit of Kot Shakir Police was going to fields early in the morning when his rivals including Qaiser Abbas and Karam Khan attacked him and axed him to death on the spot. The culprits managed to escape from the spot. The reason behind the murder is said to be old enmity. The police concerned have registered a case against two nominated accused.

In another mishap which occurred in Chak 7/2 Janobi in the remit of Kot Shakir Police a man gunned down his real sister for honour. The accused suspected that her sister had developed illicit relations with someone of the same village due to which he killed his sister. The police have registered a case against the accused.

Similarly in another incident which took place in Mauza Dargahi Shah situated in the limit of 18 Hazari Police, a 13-year-old youth hanged himself over a petty family issue. Meanwhile, the 18 Hazari Police have recovered the dead body of newborn baby from heap of garbage. In Layyah, at least four people were killed and 10 others injured in collision between a truck and a van near Layyah on Monday morning. According to officials, the incident occurred at Chowk Azam. According to details, a speeding van rammed into a truck coming from the opposite direction. On information, the police and rescue teams rushed to the scene soon after mishap took place. The injured and dead bodies were shifted to Layyah District Headquarters Hospital. It is to be mentioned that a day before, at least five people were killed in road accident in neighbouring Muzaffargarh district.
