Ayyan dodges indictment again

Rawalpindi - A local customs, taxation and anti-smuggling court did not indict model Ayyan Ali in money smuggling case despite her 25th appearance before the court yesterday. The court deferred the hearing in the case till November 3, 2015.
According to details, Judge Rana Aftab Ahmed took up money smuggling case against the top model who appeared before the court amid tight security.
However, Sardar Latif Khosa, the counsel for the accused, was not present. The court was told by the model that her lawyer could not appear because of his engagement in a case being heard at the Supreme Court. But the judge ordered her to present her lawyer for further proceedings. On this, Ayyan went to Islamabad and came back along with Khosa.
Khosa stated that his client is innocent. The plea submitted by the defence lawyer stated that no proof of currency smuggling has been found during the interrogation; therefore Ayyan should be acquitted. The plea also stated the high court has also not declared a case related to the incident as currency smuggling. The point was also raised in the petition that Ayyan while carrying the amount had yet not attained the boarding pass and was going to leave after handing over the money to her brother. Khosa requested the court to return the confiscated mobile and money after releasing her client. On one occasion, Ayyan told the court that she would provide all kinds of support to those students/faculty of Karachi University who had been expelled/suspended by the administration on account of inviting her for delivering a lecture in the varsity.
