LAHORE - Leading lawyer and head of the Professional group Hamid Khan yesterday said that the lawyers should continue their efforts for the supremacy of the Constitution, independence of judiciary, cordial relations of bench and bar and respect for the black coat.

Hamid Khan said there was no room for military courts in the Constitution. He expressed these views while addressing a gathering of lawyers organized at Kissan Hall by Rana Zia Abdur Rehman, LHCBA presidential candidate. Pir Kalim Khursheed, the presidential candidate of the SCBA, also addressed the gathering. He regretted that the incumbent office bearers of the SCBA had failed to come up to the expectations of the bar members.. Khursheed categorically announced he had no political agenda and that he was determined to work for the welfare of the lawyers. He made it clear that though he did not believe in politics of plots and loans, he would leave no stone unturned to solve the problems of plots so that the dreams of lawyers could be materialised. He said, if elected, he would boost the image of the SCBA at national and international level.

A number of lawyers, including LHCBA presidential candidate Rana Zia Abdur Rehman, former SCBA president Mian Israrul Haq, former LHC presidents Hafiz Abdur Rehman Ansari, Saeed Ansari, Mian Abdul Quddus and Nusrat Javed Bajwa, Syed Iqbal Shah, Ghulam Farid Sahutra, LBA presidential candidate Tanvir Akhtar and others were present on the occasion.
