PPP worried about Dr Asim's health

ISLAMABAD -  Pakistan People’s Party leader Senator Saeed Ghani yesterday claimed that former federal minister Dr Asim Hussain was being punished for being the physician of former President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari.

In a statement, Senator Ghani said that Dr Hussain was being tortured and his health was continuously falling.

“On one hand Dr Asim Hussain is wrongly accused of treating terrorists in his hospital and imprisoned and on the other Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf leader Imran Khan has admitted that Taliban were treated in his hospital but is free,” he said.

The PPP leader said this double standard displayed the victimization of Dr Hussain. “He is kept in solitary confinement and tortured physically and mentally. National Accountability Bureau is running a vilification campaign against him,” the lawmaker said.

Senator Ghani said that the government helped Pervez Musharraf to flee the country despite the fact that he violated the constitution.

He expressed concerns over the falling health of Dr Hussain and his wife who was also in a critical condition due to the mental torture she was going through due to the alleged maltreatment of her husband.
