KARACHI - Pakistan Tahreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Karachi chapter on Friday held a rally that converted into sit-in after reaching Governor House against police crackdown in Bani Galla and arrest of PTI workers in Punjab.
According to details, PTI leaders along with workers took out a rally from Insaaf House Karachi against arrest of PTI workers. The rally was led by PTI leader Arif Alvi, Khurram Sher Zaman and others. They chanted slogans “Go Nawaz Go” holding party’s flags, banners, portraits of Imran Khan in their hands.
PTI workers marching through various main roads reached Karachi Press Club (KPC) and later moved towards Governor House Karachi where they stage sit-in protest and demanded to remove police personnel from Bani Galla.
PTI rally resulted massive traffic jam in the city while police also closed Aiwan-e-Saddar Road for traffic from Fowara Chowk to Governor House.
Addressing the participants, PTI leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi said that PML-Nawaz leaders had lost their senses that was why they had resorted to button charge and conduct shelling on peaceful protesters in Rawalpindi.
He said that rulers had also besieged Bani Galla which is a vivid proof that Nawaz League were fearing from the outcome of November 2 PTI‘s Dharna in Islamabad. It was the reason that PML-Nawaz had started crackdown against PTI workers, he added.
Meanwhile, talking to the media men PTI Leader Arif Alvi said that the rally was scheduled to protest against the detention of workers and seizing of Party chairman residence.
Alvi said that PML-Nawaz government could not save itself from accountability by using such kind of unconstitutional tactics. “Democracy gives everyone right to protest, but unfortunately, there is no real democracy in our country”, he added.
He said that Governor Sindh is the representative of Federal government in Karachi and we have come here to register our protest.
He urged the government to condemn the illegal crackdown in Islamabad and play his role in release of PTI workers. PTI leader handed over a memorandum to Sindh governor. The PTI workers ended sit-in and dispersed later.
Moreover, Pakistan Muslim Alliance also held a public gathering at Numaish Chowrangi, M A Jinnah Road Karachi. Participants were carrying National Flag and raised slogans ‘Pakistan Zindabad’.
Amman Ullah Paracha who is the chairman of the party-represents Bengali residence of the country, addressing the gathering said that Bengalis has sacrificed a lot for the establishment of the Pakistan while at the time of partition; they preferred to stay in West-Pakistan following the ideology of the founders of country. “We are loyal to the country and ready to play our role for the betterment of county”, he added.
MIRPURKHAS
Hundreds of workers and office bearers of PTI district Mirpurkhas including women held demonstration here on Friday outside the local press club against crackdown on PTI workers in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Led-by district president Noor Muhammad Siaal, vice president Tauseef Malik and general secretary Zaki Khan, carrying banners and placards raised slogans against the prime minister and Punjab police.
They demanded Nawaz Sharif to resign without any delay. They blocked the main Hyderabad Mirpurkhas road in front of local press club as result traffic was suspended for half an hour.
They strongly condemned the attacks of Punjab police and FC force in Islamabad on the innocent PTI workers and office bearers in which many of them were injured and also detained by police.
