Imran vows to lift 100m out of poverty in 10 years

MIANWALI - PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday pledged that his party, if came into power, would lift 100 million people out of poverty in just 10 years.

"China has brought more than 340 million out of poverty in 30 years due to their policies and if I am given the opportunity to rule Pakistan, I will lift 100 people out of poverty in just 10 years," Khan told a massive gathering of supporters at his hometown of Mianwali.

He said that his priority after coming into power would be to fix Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Khan said that there was one law for the rich and the other for the powerful. "Policies are made to protect the rich in our country. We will make sure this doesn't happen during our term." The PTI chief said that he would plant billions of trees across the country.

"Trees are our lifeline as they provide oxygen and protect the environment. Number of people die every year in Pakistan due to environmental pollution," he said.

Imran said he would now target Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif as Nawaz Sharif had already gone. He wondered if PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari had ever paid any tax. Imran said that he will hold the rich accountable and make them abide by law if given power.

Imran said that one of the Sharif brothers has been ousted and the other will also meet the same fate soon. He lashed out at the Punjab government saying constables of Punjab police appear as postmen after their changed uniform.

He praised the people of Mianwali saying the locals never disappointed him when it came to support. He credited the people of Mianwali for the election triumphs and success of party.

Imran criticised the Punjab police for its political loyalties with PML-N. He bashed the Punjab government for only progressing in advertisements rather than reality. He blamed Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif for the “undeveloped state” of Punjab.

Imran lamented that no politician had supported him in his initiative against corruption in early days of his political career.

Imran has been elected from his Mianwali constituency in 2002 and 2013.
