KARACHI : Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) convener Dr Farooq Sattar, while commenting on the arrest of party’s Karachi Tanzeemi Committee (KTC) former in-charge Hammad Siddiqui, in connection with Baldia factory fire incident, has demanded strict action against him.

It is pertinent to mention here that Siddiqui was arrested in Dubai on Friday. Apart from target killing cases, Siddiqui is also a prime suspect in Baldia factory fire case. Talking to the media men here on Saturday, Sattar said that the party had no space for the elements involved in militancy and terrorism and claimed that MQM-P was the cleanest party of Mohajir community. “If Hammad Siddiqui faces allegation, he should be taken to the task as per law,” said Sattar, and reiterated that there was no space for the elements involved in criminals activities.

He further said that the party had never disputed that an accused affiliated with MQM-P should not be charged if he faces accusations.

“But it should be noted that hundreds of MQM-P workers have been arrested and put in jails during the Karachi operation on fake charges,” he reminded.

To a question about the links of MQM-P leadership with MQM chief Altaf Hussain, Sattar rejected the impression adding that the party leadership in Pakistan, had on August 23, dissociated itself from the London-based leadership and was running the party affairs with the consultation of the decision making body present in Pakistan.

I don’t have any relation or contact with MQM chief Altaf Hussain, and everyone in MQM-P is well aware of it, said Sattar.

MQM-P convener said that party workers were being forced to changed their loyalties and he will take this matter to the federal government and the prime minister.
