ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani chaired a meeting at the Prime Minister's House here to review agenda of the special cabinet meeting to be held today (Monday). The cabinet meeting on Monday would mainly discuss agriculture policy and the food security situation in the country. The meeting would likely announce wheat support price for the upcoming crop with the aim to give incentive to farmers to grow more wheat. The Economic Coordination Committee in its previous meeting was to take the decision regarding wheat support price but the matter could not be settled and it was deferred. Now the special meeting of the cabinet would likely to announce wheat support price to ensure maximum sowing of wheat in the upcoming season. The Prime Minister was briefed on the recommendations of the task force on food security. He was also briefed on the Benazir Tractor Scheme and Benazir Zarai Credit Card scheme. The meeting was also attended by Minister for Agriculture Nazar Muhammad Gondal, PPP spokesman Farhatullah Babar and senior government officials.
