LAHORE - PML-Q leader and former Chief Minister Punjab Ch Pervaiz Elahi has held the Punjab government responsible for economic crisis in the province whereof, he added, the administrative set up had also come down. Addressing at the organisational meeting of the Gujranwala chapter of the Party Monday Pervaiz charged the Punjab Chief Minister for burdening even the children of the province with debts amid the growing problem of lawlessness, crime, price-hike and unemployment. The masses had to give their lives during the month of Ramazan to get atta and sugar and the situation was still not up to the mark, he said adding, due to the poor performance, the Punjab rulers were now escaping the bye-election in Punjab. He said it was strange on the part of the rulers that on the one hand they made tall claims of good governance while on the other they were running away from bye-poll as the rulers fear, they might be exposed. Criticising the economic policies of the provincial government, the PML-Q leader said the government had obtained huge loans from the State Bank of Pakistan for which it would need to pay heavy interest. He said the hard earned money of the people of Punjab was being ruthlessly spent for political interests of the rulers. Today Punjab is under burden of Rs 400 billion. He said that they had already hinted at the bankruptcy of the Punjab government as the Chief Minister was not competent nor he had a team to address the economic crisis. He said the province was in the grip of dacoits and looters as the police were assigned registering cases and nabbing the political rivals. He said the police and the administration should not accept the unlawful orders of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
