KARACHI - An activist of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) was shot dead on Monday within the limits of Saeedabad police station. Police said that the deceased Shaheen Qureshi, 22, was the resident of Baldia Sector 9-A and currently working as vice president of Peoples Youth Wing UC-3. The incident occurred near his residence where he was sitting with his friends, when two unidentified armed men reached there and opened indiscriminate firing. The victim received several bullet injuries and succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital. Another young man Faisal, 20, son of Ashgar, an associate of Shaheen also received bullet injuries and admitted in Civil Hospital, where his condition is termed to be stable. Police registered the case against unidentified assailants. On the other side, a minor boy was crushed to death by a speedy vehicle in Machhar Colony. According to details, nine-year-old boy who was said to be a garbage collector was crushed to death by a speedy vehicle. The dead body was taken to CHK where he was identified as Akhtar Hussain, 9, son of Mohammad Ibrahim. The deceased was the resident of Afghan Basti, Sohrab Goth. Police said that the boy sustained injuries in his head, which caused his immediate death. The driver of the vehicle managed to escape from the scene. Similarly, a young girl was crushed to death while her cousin sustained injuries when a speedy bus hit them in SITE police station limits. Police said the victim Jannat Fatima, 25, daughter of Muhammad Ramzan, was died when a Route No 20 bus hit her near Naurus roundabout. Driver of the bus managed to flee while she succumbed injuries on the way to hospital. The victim was the resident of Orangi Town, Sector 13-D and came here to appear for a job interview. Her body was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and handed over to her family after autopsy. Police have registered an FIR 735/09 and seized the vehicle.
