KARACHI - Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Chief Mohammad Hussain Mehanti on Monday expressed his concern over the proposed summary of six percent increase in power tariff by the concerned ministry. He demanded of the government to withdraw the proposed summary of increase in electricity tariff and asserted to resolve the issue of hours long power outages. In his statement issued, JI Karachi chief condemned the proposal of increase in power tariff saying that due to blind raise in power tariff, the common man had not only badly affected but it was impossible for him to survive in such horrible conditions. He said that entire country was suffering from political and economical crises adding that unemployment, price-hike, and poverty had gripped the every people of the country. He pointed out that the common people were not able to arrange food twice a day, adding that government has failed to provide the relief to the masses. He added that government was raising the prices of electricity and various utilities on the directives of IMF, World Bank, and Asian development. Mehanti said that the recent proposal to increase in power tariff was a condemnable decision saying that it was the responsibility of the government to assure the uninterrupted supply of electricity.
