KARACHI Davis cupper Yasir Khan outclassed Changez Hasaan in straight sets in the opening round of the Sindh Ranking Tennis Tournament here on Tuesday. The favourite wrapped up the contest 6-0,6-1. The best match in the first round of the event was between experienced Muhammad Abdul Saeed and Rehmat Ali Ahsan which ended in favour of the former. The two provided some exciting moments to a handful of supporters. Abdul Saeed, an experienced hand at professional level, was more accurate and confident in making shots and placing balls. Although the Sindh Tennis Association had made a number of rules imposing fines to discourage no-shows but still one of the contest in the event ended in walk over win for Faiz Azam when his opponent Fahim Ramzan failed to appear. Under the STA rules, Fahim Ramzan would be fined and if he could not satisfy the organisers with his absence in a credible manner, he may be barred from local events for a certain period of time. According to information, the STA has already collected good amount from fines for no-shows during the past three years. Juniors under-17 singles first round: Daniyal Siddiqui beat Anil Chohan 6-0, 6-0, Saad Noor Sumar beat Malik Hamza 6-1, 3-6, 7-5. Boys Under-13 singles first round: Emad Najam beat Nazif Ahmed 8-7.
