LAHORE - Chosen from among five major political parties in the country, MQM has emerged as the richest political party with Rs40.5 million assets, while PPP is the poorest of all with only Rs0.4 million in its kitty. This was disclosed by former Punjab Governor, Shahid Hamid at a Round Table discussion on electoral reforms organised by PILDAT at a local hotel on Tuesday. He was quoting these figures from the declared wealth of political parties, as submitted to the Election Commission of Pakistan on June 30, 2009. He told the participants that ANP ranked second among the parties with Rs1.83 million assets, followed by PML-N and PML-Q which possess assets of Rs1.34 million and Rs1.33 million respectively. He said PPP was the poorest of the five major parties having only Rs0.4 million assets.
