LAHORE - Eight-member GTZ (German Technical Cooperation Agency) team led by Walter Jahn on Tuesday held a meeting at Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) head office with SMEDA chief executive officer Shahid Rashid in chair to review the operation of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (REEE) Programme. GTZ team leader Water John acknowledged that SMEDAs partnership in REE Programme had added value, SMEDA was also a manifestation partner in Energy Management System (EnMS) Implementation Programme being implemented in 25 textile model units, he added. As GTZ team was informed by SMEDA experts that 16 units had undergone complete adoption of Energy Management System. The achieved energy savings in these units are 3043 TOE, that is equivalent to 4 MW generation capacity. Whereas total cost savings so far have been estimated upto Rs 128 million with an implementation cost of Rs 16.52 million only.
