QUETTA - Dozens of activists of the National Party staged a demonstration outside the Press Club here Friday, protesting against the slow pace of relief activities in the flood-hit areas of Balochistan. The protesters, led by NP President Dr Abdul Malik Baloch, were carrying placards and banners. They were chanting slogans against the government for not providing timely relief to the affectees. Addressing the protestors, Dr Baloch and other party leaders said that millions of people had been rendered homeless by the devastating floods in different parts of the province, including Jaffarabad and Naseerabad. They said that despite lapse of many days, the affectees were not given proper shelter and food.  The affectees have been left with no other option but to face starvation, the NP leaders said adding that more than 100 people had been killed so far in the calamity-hit areas. They alleged that the distribution of so-called relief goods was limited only to ministers’ acquaintances while the deserving people were being baton charged.Criticising the government’s inadequate rescue and relief efforts, the NP leaders said that the affectees were passing through a difficult time as there was acute shortage of food and potable water in almost all flood-ravaged areas.  “The govt has not made a proper survey of damages and causalities caused by unprecedented rains and flooding,” they added.  They demanded for an immediate acceleration of relief activities in the areas and appealed the international donors to come forward to help the affectees. 
Meanwhile, the NP activities took out rallies and staged demonstrations in several other towns of Balochistan, including Naseerabad and Jaffarabad against the slow pace of relief activities.
