LAHORE - The PTI has announced that it will hold demonstrations on October 2 across Punjab against hike in electricity and petroleum prices.
PTI Punjab president Ejaz Chaudhry made this announcement after a meeting with the party’s newly-appointed secretary general, Jahangir Tareen, here on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the provincial leadership briefed Jahangir Tareen about the party’s line of action. The leaders said they, being the leading opposition party in the province, have presented the Punjab government a 5-point agenda which included local bodies’ polls on party-basis, war-footing steps to improve economic affairs, protection of womanhood against violence, a policy to cope with forthcoming food shortage and measures to improve the overall law and order situation.
Man sent to jail for 25 years for raping daughter
A man accused of raping his minor daughter has been sentenced 25-year imprisonment on Saturday.
In 2010, Batapur police had registered a case against Rehmat Ali over the charges of raping his 7-year-old daughter.
The police had submitted a charge-sheet against the accused after completing investigation in this regard.
The court after recording the evidence and hearing the arguments at length, granted 25 years punishment to the accused. Additional Sessions Judge Ghulam Abbas Siyal also imposed fine of Rs35,000 on the convict.
The convict would have to spend six months more in jail if he fails to pay the fine.
