Rawalpindi - The indictment of model girl Ayyan Ali in currency smuggling case was deferred yet again yesterday due to absence of the judge.

The accused model, who is on bail, was supposed to appear before Customs, Taxation and Anti-Smuggling Special Judge Rana Aftab Ahmed but the judge was on leave and the model appeared before the Banking Court Judge Sabir Sultan.

The prosecutor pleaded to adjourn the hearing till October 5. The defence lawyer told the court that Latif Khosa would not be able to appear before court on October 5 due to his busy schedule at Supreme Court. He demanded to adjourn hearing till October 8. Subsequently, the judge marked the presence of accused and adjourned the hearing till October 8.

The customs, taxation and anti-smuggling court could not indict the model and deferred the hearing for the 17th time.

Ayyan Ali arrived in the court premises in black dress with Sindhi Ajrak amid tight security. A large number of lawyers, litigants and other people gathered to have a glimpse of the supermodel.

While talking to media persons after the hearing, Ayyan stated that she wants to talk to media but is waiting for right time. She said if she starts speaking, it would take days. She said that she will defend herself at every platform. “I have spent four months in jail and tried to reach court on every hearing,” she added.

Ayyan vowed she will prove her innocence in the court, adding that she is facing courts for the first time in her life.
