Notorious PO ‘bumped off’ in shootout

A notorious outlaw was shot dead in a shootout with Pindi Bhattian Police near village Thatha Behlolpur on Chochak Road the other night.
The police source said that three armed bandits snatched a bike (FDD-7178) from a villager who promptly informed the Pindi Bhattian Saddr Police. Acting swiftly, SHO Iqbal Ojla along with a police party chased the fleeing accused. However, the bandits opened firing which the police retaliated and a shootout erupted. As a result, one of the accused was killed and another managed to escape the scene under the cover of darkness. The accused was later identified as Muhammad Iqbal alias Bali, son of Muhammad Ali alias Mummy, a notorious proclaimed offender. The police seized an unlicensed gun, huge quantity of ammunition, the snatched bike and other articles from the scene.
Meanwhile, the Kassoki Police have arrested Ashiq Hussain of Kot Khushal under the Arms Ordinance and have seized a Kalashnikov and 110 rounds of ammunition from his possession.
