LAHORE  - Mismanagement and delay marred PIA’s post haj operation, said an airline’s officer on condition of anonymity on Monday.

He said that first haj flight from Jeddah to Lahore Pk-6308 was scheduled to arrive at 5:10am on Monday but it landed at 8:40am. Another flight Pk-6310 left behind a pallet comprising 105 pieces of baggage of hajis at Jeddah Airport.

On which hajis staged a protest demonstration at Allama Iqbal International Airport and demanded the delivery of their baggage at earliest.

Spokesman for PIA said that post haj operation started on Monday, which would bring back 55,800 hajis from Saudi Arabia.

He said that the first haj flight for Lahore PK 6304 arrived early Monday morning, another flight for Lahore PK 6301 followed by first hajj flights for Islamabad PK 6312, PK 6314 for Peshawar and PK 6302 for Karachi bringing back a total of more than 1,500 hajis to Pakistan.

“PIA is also bringing back hajis through its regular scheduled flights. The first post haj flight for Karachi PK 6302 arrived at Jinnah International Airport,” he added.

Chairman PIA, Nasser NS Jaffer welcomed and received the hajis and presented bouquets to the returning hajis. Senior PIA officials were also present at the airport to receive the hajis. The hajis of the first flights for Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar were welcomed by the PIA district managers and senior officials of the airline.

At Islamabad, the hajis were welcomed and received by District Manager PIA Bashiruudin Khan & while retuning hajis at Lahore were welcomed and received by District Manager Saleem Ullah Shahani, and Station Manager PIA Tariq Majeed. The hajis of first flight to Peshawar were received by District Manager PIA Mohammad Ayaz. PIA made arrangements to provide information and guidance, including filling of immigration cards and security clearance at Jeddah Hajj terminal.

The airline is also providing information to returning hajis at PIA offices at Jeddah, Makkah and Medina.

Meanwhile PIA Chairman Nasser NS Jaffer instructed PIA officials and haj team members to provide best services to returning hajis. The airline’s post haj operation will conclude on October 28, 2015, the spokesman concluded.
