LAHORE-Forman Dramatics Club, under the leadership of President Daniyal Azhar and Media Head Ashbel Najam, hosted the premiere of Maalik. The director of the film and famous name from PTV’s household hit Dhuwan, Ashir Azeem, graced the event with his presence. The film was watched and appreciated by a large number of students. Addressing the students, Ashir Azeem spoke on the motive behind screening the movie. “The motive behind this movie was not at all making money out of it, but to create awareness among the general public about the harsh realities in our country.”
About the banning of the movie, Ashir Azeem, counter questioned the audience asking if the movie should really have been banned.
“For me, the movie should not have been banned in the first place and the response from the audience has just proved it. So many people are talking about the movie, lauding our efforts are also liking the initiative, which is a very big deal in itself and it speaks volumes about our success.”
Talking exclusively to The Nation, Ashir Azeem confirmed he is working on a few scripts and will unveil his projects soon. “|I am in the process of working on a few scripts at the moment. I do not think the films should be compared with each other. Every film is different and there is blood and sweat involved in making it. I hope my future projects will be appreciated just as much as Maalik has been.”
