PM for timely completion of KP projects

PESHAWAR - Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday directed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to ensure timely completion of all the ongoing projects in the province, including the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) and Swat Motorway, in a transparent manner.

He gave this direction during a meeting with the members of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet here. KP Governor Shah Farman and Chief Minister Mahmood Khan were also present in the meeting.

The prime minister, who was briefed about the ongoing development projects in the province, also directed to take measures for the further promotion of tourism in the province.

He urged the provincial ministers to work hard to come up to the increased expectations of people in KP from Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf, which had come into power again in the province due to its service to masses.

The prime minister, who was on his maiden visit to the provincial capital after taking oath of office, also directed for early constitution of hospital boards in the health sector and completion of administrative reforms in the province.

He took the Cabinet members into confidence about Local Government system.

The prime minister said the provincial government should come forward with full support for Pakistan Cleanliness Drive. He said the provincial government should also take strict action against illegal encroachments like that of the federal government.

The prime minister assured all possible cooperation from the federal government to the province in the interest of the KP people.

 SPEEDY WORK ON FATA MERGER ORDERED

 Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday said as the people of FATA (tribal areas) had equal rights like other citizens in the country, all measures would be taken for their progress and uplift.

He was chairing a meeting of Task Force on FATA here, which was attended by Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Farman, Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, Religious Affairs Minister Noor-ul-Haq Qadri, Chief Secretary, IG Police and senior representatives from FATA Secretariat and army.

The prime minister called for speedy work for FATA merger in terms of administrative, legal, local bodies and development.

He said all the institutions were required to work in unison to achieve the single objective of socio-economic welfare of the people of FATA.

The prime minister urged the task force that there should be no delay in the process of FATA merger.

 

NO PROTOCOL

 

Imran Khan on Friday arrived in Peshawar and drove to Chief Minister House from the airport without any protocol, spokesman of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, MPA Shaukat Yousafzai said.

In a message issued here, he said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had issued instructions to the governor, chief minister and chief secretary not to come to the airport to receive him.

The prime minister directly arrived at the Chief Minister House after reaching the Peshawar Airport, Shaukat added.

During the meeting with provincial Cabinet at Peshawar, the Prime Minister told the participants that he did not want any protocol and other formalities, but practical work from holders of public office.

After the meeting, he met all the participants at Chief Minister House, Shaukat added. He said that in the meeting only tea was served to the participants comprising Cabinet members of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and high-ranking officials.
