Sindh minister reviews water situation

KARACHI   -  Sindh Minister for Irrigation Department Jam Khan Shoro presided over a meeting with the rel-evant officers here on Tuesday to review the wa-ter situation in the province for the Rabi Sea-son. 

The meeting was attended by Provincial Secretary of Irrigation Suhail Ahmed Qureshi, Chief Engi-neer Kotri Barrage, Hyderabad region, Haji Khan Jamali Chief Engineer Development-II, Hyderabad Zarif Khuhro, Special Secretary Jamaluddin Manghan and others. The relevant officers ap-prised the Provincial Minister about the availa-bility of water in the province for the Rabi season and Tarbela’s T-5 project was also dis-cussed. Shoro said that Indus River System Au-thority (IRSA) should provide the share of water to Sindh province for the Rabi season as per its due share mentioned in the 1991 accord. While talking on the Tarbela’s Tunel-5 project, he said that we have reservations over the Tarbe-la’s T-5 project because primarily, it was con-structed for the purpose to meet the require-ments of irrigation and agriculture sectors but now it has been changed for the WAPDA’s power generation purpose which will affect on the flow of water and agriculture sector in the province.
