4,000 youth to be recruited in Levies Force

SOUTH WAZIRISTAN AGENCY To fully restore the writ of the government in South Waziristan Agency, almost 4,000 youth would be recruited, phase-wise, in Levies Force and the very first phase of recruitment would commence from May 3-7 next. This was stated by the Political Agent of South Waziristan Agency Shahab Ali Shah while talking to media person here at his office on Thursday. In the first phase, around 1,500 youths would be recruited, he said, and added that the government had planned to fully maintain and restore the writ of the government in tribal areas. The process of recruitment, he said, would be completed in years and no educational qualification would be required for the purpose. Besides, they would be fully equipped and trained and in addition to their salaries, they would get incentives as well. The Political Agent maintained that with Levies Force, Khasadar Force would also be intact, adding that it would give an opportunity to locals not only to restore peace in their agency, but also would get jobs in their local areas. Rs120m released for Chitral by-pass road Provincial Minister for Population Welfare Saleem Khan has disclosed that an amount of Rs120 million has been released by the provincial government for land compensation of the proposed Chitral by-pass road and construction work on the road would commence soon. In a statement issued here, he said that land acquisition for the proposed by-pass road was a big issue and had been lingering on for a long time but the present government took keen interest and resolved the issue. With the construction of Chitral by-pass road, the traffic problem in Chitral will be solved, the minister added. Meanwhile, the provincial minister issued directives to the authorities concerned of Chitral district to make all necessary arrangements for payment of land compensation to the landowners so that practical work on the project could soon be started.
