Citizen loses life at hands of quack

LAHORE - Another citizen fell prey to a fake doctor in Baghbanpura police limits on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Sagheer, resident of Mominpura.
The victim had severe headache and he visited a clinic of a so-called doctor, Mohammad Nisar, at Salamatpura on April 22. Police investigators said the fake doctor administered an injection that made the patients condition worse. The aforesaid doctor administered two more injections, which caused immediate swelling in his hand, an on duty police officer Rasheed Anjum said. A family source, however, claimed the doctor advised the ill-fated family to shift the patient to a civil hospital when the matter went out of his control. The victim was shifted to General Hospital on Thursday where the doctors removed his hand in order to save his life but to no avail, as his stomach was badly affected by the poison and the doctors pronounced him dead.
Later, the family staged a protest demonstration against the doctor in front of Baghbanpura police station. Police have registered a case against the said doctor on the statement of Nadeem, brother of the victim, with no arrest till filing of this report. Further investigations are underway.
Drug addict dies
A 40-year-old man died under mysterious circumstances in the limits of Kot Shahab Din in Shahdara police on Thursday.
Police investigators claimed the deceased, yet to be identified, was a drug addict and was often seen on the site. Nothing was found from his pocket after conducting a through search. We also made numerous announcements in nearby mosques but none of the citizens claimed to own his body, a police investigator said. Later, an Edhi ambulance shifted the body to the city morgue for autopsy.
Land grabber held
Police Station Old Anarkali has claimed to arrest a land grabber besides registering a fraud case against a gang involved in illegal acts of occupying land.
Police investigators said that the ringleader namely Mohammad Ali, resident of Baghbanpura, was arrested on the tip-off while the raids were being conducted on various whereabouts of his others accomplices. Police further maintained that the gang was involved in numerous illegal acts of transferring private and government land by doing fake sign by posing them as revenue officials. Police also disclosed that the gang had recently occupied the land of a citizen, Iftikhar Hussain, resident of Model Town.
