ISLAMABAD (PR) - Wateen Telecom Thursday signed contracts with government for providing broadband internet services in the un-served urban areas of Central Telecom Region (CTR). Advisor to Prime Minister for Information Technology Sardar Latif Khan Khosa witnessed the signing ceremony between CEO Wateen Telecom Tariq Malik and CEO Universal Service Fund Parvez Ifthikhar. Tariq Malik said this is the second successful bid by Wateen in USF, gaining a total of Rs 2.9 billion as a cash grant to facilitate Wateen to connect the unconnected. Latif Khosa, speaking on the occasion, said government will provide most modern telecom services to the masses living in smaller towns and cities in a bid to bring all parts of the country at par with each other. He said with such consistent efforts and spirit, Ministry of Information Technology will undertake more challenging and productive programmes in the future for the promotion of telecom related services.
